Post Metroidvania Month Update


Hello everyone! Looks like we came in 38th place overall and I'm super happy about that. It did a lot better than I thought it would. It might have done better if this patch was ready before voting started, but that's game dev and game jams for ya. Anyhoo, there's a bunch of fixes and updates to the game. I hope you give it a spin and enjoy the latest build!

Did you enter the Metroidvania Month game jam? If so, how did you do?

Updates include:

Bug fixes:

  • Health will not reset when transferring levels
  • Crystals will not respawn, but you will not lose progress
  • Altar shows correct amount needed now(55, not 54)
  • Level transitions are smoother now
  • Fixed a few floating enemies. Seems to still be happening. Unsure what the issue is at the moment.

Features:

  • Music and sound effects added(finally)
  • Intro cutscene added
  • Tilemap art touched up slightly(still very plain but no longer gray)
  • Turned off lights that were causing performance issues.

Note that adding sound bloated the game size. Web players might experience slightly longer initial loading time.
